This centre catered for about 100 school-aged children providing meals and recreation after school and in holidays. It was funded by the Federal and State Government as a wartime scheme. 1946 to 1948 Organiser of Exhibition Youth Centre (a centre in south Fitzroy which catered for about 200 people of all ages. Education Officer for the Victorian Association of Youth Clubs. 1952 to 1958 Teacher at inner Melbourne Girls Secondary Schools (then called Brunswick Girls H.S.and Flemington Girls H.S.) Community Involvement (Child Care) Here are some examples of helping to campaign for new types of services and involvement in establishing them :- 1942 ....Member of Committee for Co-ordinating Child Care in Wartime, an organisation of community and trade union representatives. 1942.. 1943 First Hon. Sec of South Yarra Day Nursery (subsidised by Federal Govt, from 1943 c) 1945.. 1947 Member and later Hon Sec of Day Nursery Development Association (campaign to re-establish wartime children's centres and to improve creches). 1948 to 1952 Helped with children's cultural activities, e.g. children's art (Asian/ Australian Children's Art Exchange), children's dance (Unity Dance Group), children's theatre (New Theatre), children's singing (Austral Singers) etc. 1957 to 1960 (c) Hon Sec of Coburg Education Committee which was supported by Coburg Council, research on school and preschool education facilities in that municipality. 1969 to 1972 Hon Sec Action for Adeguate child Care (a trade union/community based organisat
