Abstract

• The influence of domestic tourism on the vulnerability of the economy • Domestic tourism spending as a percentage of GDP has a significant negative impact on economic vulnerability. • This impact is consistent in two subsamples, two sub-periods, and two sub-indices of vulnerability. • There is an inverted-U shape effect of domestic tourism on vulnerability. • The international tourism shows opposite effect with domestic tourism.
