Abstract
In this context of environmental crisis, large scale development projects are increasingly opposed by local populations. When these projects are covered by the media, different conceptions of the territory are confronted and disseminated to the public. The aim of our study is to analyze the evolution of media coverage of the territories affected by development projects. We consider two examples of conflicts that emerged around developments projects: the Hidroituango dam in Colombia and the Notre-Dame-des-Landes airport in France. Our results highlight the plurality of territory representations that emerges in protest contexts and questions the way social struggles are handled by the media, in relation to socio-cultural, economic and ecological concerns.
