Band-structure of cesium graphite intercalation compounds from angle resolved photoemission

Abstract

Abstract We present here the first experimental determination of the band-structure of a Graphite Intercalation Compound (GIC), from Angle Resolved Photoemission Spectroscopy (ARPES). The band-structure of CsC 8 compounds synthetized under ultrahigh vacuum was obtained from ARPES measurements performed with the synchrotron radiation facilities at LURE. We discuss the following points: • ∗ The folding of the band-structure • ∗ The shape of the π and π ∗ bands around the P direction of the graphite Brillouin zone • ∗ Whether the s band originating from the alkali is empty or not, according to different models.
