Abstract

An experiment has been performed to determine an upper limit on m ν μ from pion decay in flight in the forward direction. The kinematical analysis and the inherent calibrations lead to the result: 〈 m ν μ 2 〉 = −0.14 ± 0.20 (MeV/ c 2 ) 2 (68% CL), m ν μ ⪕0.50 MeV /c (90% CL).
