Relevant legal and administrative regulations are described, as contained in the Bundes-Immissionsschutzgesetz (Federal Immission Control Act), the Technische Anleitung zur Reinhaltung der Luft (Technical Instructions on Air Quality Control), the 4. Allgemeine Verwaltungsvorschrift (4th General Administrative Instruction), Smog Regulations of the individual Federal States, Directives issued by the European Community and Guidelines issued by the responsible Federal Minister.
