Den generativa producenten : En kvalitativ studie om hot och möjligheter med generativ AI inom kortfilmsproduktion / The generative producer : A qualitative study about threats and possibilities with generative AI within shortfilmproduction

For a while now, media producers have had to adapt to all the different aspects of digitalization. Much of the development has led to new opportunities in optimization, it would however be naive to ignore the challenges and hardships it has brought along as well. For media producers, not least filmmakers, a new challenge has risen following the rise of artificial intelligence. Specifically generative AI. This study aims to grant a deeper understanding of these generative AI tools, how they affect the production of short films, which opportunities they grant, and which challenges producers will face, following the imminent evolution of said tools. The data for the study is gathered using qualitative methods and is processed through a producer perspective. Through this data, and with the support of previous research, the study concludes that generative AI tools within the short film media will be used as advantageous instrument while it will simultaneously cause substantial changes for existing work roles within the industry. Therefore, producers are encouraged to keep an open mind regarding generative AI tools and not write them off as threatening, in order to retain control of their creative endeavors and not dehumanize the industry.
