Abstract

This Order provides that the Secretary of State of the Niger is charged with the following, among other things: 1) overseeing the formulation and implementation of legislation relating to social affairs, family planning (FP), and the condition of women; 2) contributing to the formulation of a Family Code in concert with the concerned ministries; 3) promoting research in FP; 4) participating in the promotion of information, sensitization, and education of the population, particularly youth, with a view of combating social diseases, in concert with concerned ministries; 5) ensuring the integration of women into the process of the economic, social, and cultural development of the country; 6) promoting the organization and mobilization of women with a view towards their full participation in carrying out activities and programs that work toward their development, in collaboration with women's institutions, movements, and associations; 7) intensifying and/or supervising all development projects essentially executed by women, in collaboration with concerned ministries; 8) ensuring the supervision and control of women's associations, movements, and institutions; and coordinating the activities undertaken by these organizations with respect to women; and 9) controlling the management of projects relating to social affairs, FP, and the status of women.
