Cosinous Concentration Profile during Scale-up of Grafting in Helical Ribbon Agitated CST

The simultaneous grafting reaction with an autocatalytic effect along with diffusion and bulk viscous flow effects in a close clearance Helical Ribbon Agitator is modeled using parabolic diffusion equations. The exact solution is bifurcated. When the bulk flow velocity, V z < 2 D gs /h sqrt(1 + k″′ h 2/D gs), the concentration profile in the spatial domain changes in character from decaying exponential to cosinous. The non-homogeneity in the boundary condition can be accounted for assuming a steady state and a transient part to the solution and superposing them.
