Abstract

Abstract The results of studies of the temperature dependence of the magnetic susceptibility of xFe 2 O 3 · (1− x) [Bi 2O 3 · PbO] glasses with 0< x⩽20 mol% are reported. The data gives evidence that the iron ions in these glasses are in Fe 2+ valence states. From Curie constant values the molar fraction of these ions is determined. For samples with x⩾ 3 mol% Fe 2O 3, a mictomagnetic type order is evidenced.
