Abstract

The digital revolution also had a great impact on nature research. Research data are usually collected, found or shared in digital form nowadays, which makes them easily and broad accessible. However, there are also disadvantages. Non-digitised data, articles or research reports are being used less frequently, while essential information can be found especially in older written and printed sources that are still very relevant for recent research. For example, these historical data can be used as references in vegetation composition, to analyse and (re-)assess development of the biodiversity in certain areas. This was also the case for recent research in the Groene Waterparel, located in the Zuidplaspolder (the Netherlands), where initially overlooked and forgotten older research gained new insights on the recent research results as previously published in LANDSCHAP.
