Abstract

Abstract Vickers microhardness, tensile and compression tests and creep experiments have been performed at 22°C on electron beam irradiated high density polyethylene (HDPE). The microhardness and compression strengths were found to increase progressively with increasing dose in the range 0-500 kGy but the tensile strength was relatively constant. The time dependence of the creep moduli at low stresses can be described by the time dependence of the microhardness values.
