Abstract

Abstract We report the observation of parametric amplification of Bleustein-Gulyaev waves in piezoelectric plates. The nonlinear element is the space charge capacity near the surface of an adjacent silicon sample, which is pumped by means of a strong Bleustein-Gulyaev plate wave at twice the signal frequency. The parametric interaction can be controlled by means of a small d.c. voltage applied to the semiconductor.
