Abstract

Abstract The main aim of this study is to determine whether the bonding in thin films of amorphous CdSiAs is entirely random or ordered in some way. In order to determine this, the number of bonds as a function of composition has been calculated for two simple models, one for a random network and one for a chemically ordered network. The variation of the number of bonds with composition calculated for each model is then compared with the number of AsSi bonds determined by IR spectroscopy. It is concluded that a chemically ordered network model provides a better fit to the data.
