Temperature and excitation dependence of emission energies in MQW systems

Abstract

Abstract Investigations on the temperature and excitation dependence of Photoluminescence (PL) spectra have been carried out using both high-quality undoped and doped multiple quantum well (MQW) samples. A logarithmic plot of the PL intensity against the reciprocal of temperature shows that at low temperature the intensity decreases faster than at higher temperature. Also, a dominant thermal quenching process at higher temperature with activation energies of 34 and 47 meV, for the undoped and doped samples, respectively, was observed. In addition, there were results which could be attributed to carrier trapping and detrapping at the MQW barriers.
