Abstract

Abstract The metastable triplet state of naphthalene molecules in a naphthalene single crystal, perturbed by the presence of halogen-substituted naphthalene molecules, was investigated at liquid-helium temperature by means of electron spin resonance. The results were used to determine the orientation of the principal axes of the perturbed molecules with respect to the crystallographic axes. Since zero-field resonance data were availale and because of an improved method for the analysis, these angles could be determined more accurately than reported previously.
