Abstract

Abstract Informed consent is an integral element of ethical medical practice. However, unlike gastrointestinal endoscopy, the consent process is not standardized. Moreover, informed consent is often viewed as a legal necessity rather than as an expression of patients’ autonomy. Elevating informed consent to its rightful place can enhance doctor-patient relationship.
