Abstract

Abstract Cell cultures of Polygonum hydropiper and Nicotiana glutinosa provide convenient material for the purification of farnesyl pyrophosphate: drimenol cyclase and geranylgeranyl pyrophosphate: sclareol cyclase, respectively. Similar three-step procedures from homogenates of the cultured cells give purification of 2850- and 625-fold, respectively. An improved method for the preparation of phosphorylated terpenoid intermediates for use as substrates is also described.
