Abstract

Abstract The biology of the natterjack toad Bufo calamita is reviewed with special regard to studies of the species which have been carried out over the last 30 years. Aspects considered include distribution, habitat, species status, behaviour, physiology and autecology. The value of the information to conservation management is discussed.
