Abstract

Abstract The carbohydrate content of the mucoprotein separated from normal and silicotic sera was examined by the colorimetric anthrone method. It was found that the carbohydrate contents of the mucoprotein of normal and silicotic sera referred to the quantity of serum were identical. The ratio of the carbohydrate content to the biuret value of the mucoprotein was different for high or low biuret values. In the case of higher biuret values, the relative quantity of carbohydrate was less, independent of whether the material had been separated from normal or from silicotic sera.
