Abstract

January 2000. View of the Central Library showing a corridor of empty shelves on the mezzanine floor above the one-time Commercial and Technical, and later Music Library situated in the Tiled Hall area. Taken during the time the library was closed for 10 months, this floor was to be stripped out revealing the tiling above which can be seen here but had remained hidden from the public for a long time. The newly restored Tiled Hall was re-opened in June 2007 as a cafe and shop linking the Central Library with the Art Gallery next door.
