Abstract

Abstract The photoluminescence (PL) of the GaAs/GaAsP strained-layer single quantum well structures have been investigated in detail. It was observed in the PL spectra that besides the normal “parity-allowed” n=1 electron to heavy hole excitonic transition, le-1hh, there are several relatively weak but unambiguous emission peaks which appear at the high energy side of the dominant le-1hh. The good agreement of the experiment with the calculation suggests that the “parity-forbidden” combinations should be responsible for these anomalous optical transitions.
