Abstract

Abstract Highly textured films of the 2-1-2-2 phase of BiCaSrCu-oxide superconductor with c axis perpendicular to the single-crystal substrates of defect-free neodymium gallate, NdGaO 3 have been grown by the LPE technique from supercooled KCl solutions. It is found that the optimization of charge preparation and growth temperatures play a crucial role in obtaining highly oriented films reproducibly. Crystalline orientation of as-grown films is confirmed by scanning electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction studies. The onset of the superconducting transition ( T c) at 82 K is determined by four-point probe resistance versus temperature measurement.
