Abstract

Abstract The viscosity-temperature relationships of supercooled melts of six intermediate compositions of the system anorthite-diopside have been determined in the viscosity range 10 13–10 8 dPa s with a micro-penetration viscometer. It is shown that the isothermal viscosities of the intermediate compositions may be calculated from the pertinent data of the end-members anorthite and diopside in fair agreement with the experimental data using the viscosity model based on the theory of configurational entropy together with a slightly modified version of the two-lattice entropy of mixing model.
