Abstract

Abstract Carbonyls and halocarbonyls of molybdenum and tungsten undergo substitution reactions with the bidentate chelating agent 8-dimethylarsinoquinoline (AsN) to yield the complexes [Mo(CO) 4 (AsN)]. M(CO) 3(AsN) X 2 ( M = Mo, X = Cl, Br) and M(CO) 2(AsN) 2Cl 2( M = Mo, W). Various physico-chemical methods are used to deduce the structure of these complexes. Isolation of the sulphur dioxide compound (Mo(AsN) 2(SO 2) 2) is also reported.
