Abstract

Abstract Lignans constitute a class of natural products with a greatdiversity in structure. They possess significant pharmacological activities, especially antiviral and antitumor properties, and have thus been the target of extensive synthetic research. This review will mainly focus on the recent advances in the asymmetric synthesis of the most important classes of lignans. Furthermore, biological properties of selected lignans will be presented.
