Abstract

Abstract A patient having glioblastoma accompanied with calcification in the cervical spinal cord is presented. A calcifying lesion, detected on preoperative x-ray computed tomograms, was histologically confirmed as calcified areas in the tumor tissue. We discuss the difficulty in differentiating glioblastomas containing calcified masses from benign tumors with areas of calcification and present our hypothesis regarding the cause of calcification in the tumor tissue.
