The risk of developing testicular cancer in cryptorchidism is 3 to 10 times greater than in a patient with normally descended testes, and orchiopexy does not prevent the risk of malignancy. We underscore the need to follow these patients closely and recommend the orchiectomy in postpubertal patients.
