Abstract

This document contains portions of Chapter 212 of the Laws of Arizona (1989) relating to parental consent for abortions. This law provides that written consent must be obtained from a parent, guardian, or adoptive parent before an abortion can be performed on an unmarried or unemancipated minor. A minor can waive this requirement by obtaining a court judgement which holds that she is mature enough to make such a decision or that her best interests would be served by such a waiver. This requirement is also waived in cases of medical emergency.
