Experiential learning is now widely recognised as being at the heart of the practice and theory of learning. Many leading scholars have written on the subject as it relates to adult education and lifelong learning, and it is now at the forefront of many educational agendas. All learning stems from experience but the underlying concept of experience itself has rarely been examined in the literature. This book draws together a wide-ranging collection of contributions from notable scholars from around the world to extend discussions about the topic. Covering all of the main issues,the book looks at the conceptual framework, experiential learning in educational settings, and the role of experiential learning in both personal and community development. Finally some of the ethical dilemmas concerned with experiential learning in these settings are discussed.
