Abstract

Abstract The i.r. spectrum of α-cyanoacrylate adhesive molecule in the first monolayer on anodically oxidized aluminum has been obtained with a reflection method. A lowering of CO stretching frequency and a shift of antisymmetric stretching vibration of COC group to a higher frequency were observed in the molecule interacting with surface oxide of aluminum, suggesting hydrogen bond formation between the oxide and the adhesive molecule.
