Abstract

Abstract In order to develop mathematical models of those hydro- and pyro-metallurgical processes which involve both absorption and chemical reaction in gas-liquid systems, the reaction of hydrogen sulphide bubbles with cadmium chloride dissolved in water was studied. It has been found that the mass transfer coefficient increased with a decrease in the equivalent bubble radius and an increase in the gas flow rate. The experimental values of mass transfer coefficients were found to be higher than those predicted by theory. This has been attributed to the turbulence caused by rising bubbles.
