Abstract

Abstract A multiple time perturbation method is applied to the forced Brusselator problem. The perturbative solution so obtained is used to construct a Poincaré map. Comparison with numerical results shows the Poincaré map gives a much more reliable representation of the true solution than the original perturbative solutions. Reasons for this are given.
