Abstract

Abstract The population of excited electronic levels of p-dimethylaminobenzaldehyde has been probed using picosecond spectral continua. Diffusion controlled processes between excited and nonexcited molecules and electrostatic interaction between solute-solvent aggregates in the ground and excited states will be considered to analyse the time behaviour of the absorption from excited levels. The nonstationary and the stationary contributions to diffusion controlled quenching were estimated.
