Abstract

The discovery of the Mossbauer effect revolutionized nuclear spectroscopy by greatly increasing sensitivity (resonantly enhanced absorption cross sections) and energy resolution (~ natural line widths). The lack of similar qualities virtually prevent any $\nu$, $\bar{nu}$ spectroscopy. Measuring the $\nu$ mass or its "oscillations" in conventional $\nu$ absorption experiments will be extremely difficult.
