Abstract

Abstract A flow-calorimetric vessel has been designed for the determination of enthalpies of solution for slightly soluble solids with particular reference to water as a solvent. The design was chosen to fit a 2277 multi-channel microcalorimeter system, LKB Products, Bromma, Sweden. At each experiment the ampoule was charged with 1 to 10 mg of the solid substance. The instrument has been tested by solution of acetanilide and adenine in water in the temperature ranges 288 to 310 K and 288 to 318 K, respectively.
