Abstract

Abstract This article, shortly to appear as a chapter of a book, describes the rôle of the Chief Executive in Corporate Planning. The author analyses the job of the Chief Executive and his responsibilities for planning, by reference to management surveys, specimen job descriptions, and the comments of senior executives from major companies. He concludes that the Chief Executive's support and participation is essential for successful planning and he must personally ensure that planning is properly organized and implemented.
