Abstract

Abstract Results of an experimental study of bifurcation behaviour during CO oxidation on the porous catalyst Pt/λ-Al 2O 3 under atmospheric pressure conditions are described. A reproducible transition from simple periodic oscillations via a sequence of two period-doubling bifurcations to deterministic chaos has been observed, similarly as in an earlier study performed under UHV conditions on Pt monocrystals by other authors.
