Abstract

Abstract Grades of virulence were studied in clones of N-M recombinant virus derived from successive cycles of double infection with the N-M strain and neurotropic NWS. At each cycle there was an increase in the number and virulence of neuropathogenic clones which resembled stepwise transfer of drug resistance by bacterial transforming agents. The virulence was unstable.
