Abstract

Abstract For the completing reactions: MoO 4H − + LH n q ⇌ C; a linear correlation of the form: log k = 4.50 + 0.42 x p K, is found for all kinetic data available (p K corresponds to the reaction LH n+1 q+1 ⇌ LH n q + H +). This empirical correlation is interpreted on the basis of a linear free energy relation. From the values of the slope, it is possible to infer that these reactions should proceed via I a mechanisms. Similar results are found for WO 4H −.
