Abstract

Abstract The structural analysis of humic compounds from deposits of a blue lake 1n Greenland, a particular environment on the ice-cap isolated from any terrestrial influence, shows their relatively specific nature, resulting from growing blue algae. Fulvic acids are essentially of polyseccheridic nature ; humic acids, more heterogenous in composition, show, with polysaccharides and peptidic fragments, an aromatic character certainly due to amino-acid residues.
