Abstract

Abstract An optical-model search code has been used to find complex potentials fitting measured (d, d) cross sections at 11–12 MeV, for targets ranging from Ar to Sn. Excellent fits can be found in most cases. Often several distinctly different potentials yield good fits to the same data. Successful solutions for the same target are compared in terms of their potentials, and in terms of their theoretical scattering cross sections, reaction cross sections and phase shifts. Successful solutions for different targets are compared in these ways, also.
