Abstract

Author-Highlights•Nucleate boiling, liquid drying and gas bubble spreading mechanisms were observed.•The weightless critical point vicinity allowed very low heat fluxes experiments.•Boiling phenomena rely on triple contact line motion.•The triple contact line velocity was measured from microscopic observations.
