Abstract

•Cobalt cofactor inverted the enantioselectivity of AllBali when compared to that previously reported for other allantoinases.•Allantoinase hydrolyzed different substrates than allantoin.•Our results suggest an allosteric effect of H2O2 toward allantoinase.
