Abstract

Abstract The derivation process of the equations of motion for constrained particle systems is often extremely laborious. This paper is the first of a three-part series devoted to the presentation of a new algorithm of the equation-of-motion generation for open kinematic chains of particles. A new formula is derived for the kinetic energy of open kinematic particle chains. The derivation method uses a graph as the representation of a system-measurement structure.
