Abstract

Abstract 1. 1. The buccal mass of Aplysia is a highly mobile structure attached by ligaments and muscles to the body wall. 2. 2. Nerves that run from the cerebral ganglia to innervate the area that surrounds the mouth are shown to contain the axons of mechanoreceptors that respond to deformation of the extremely flexible tissues of this area.
