Abstract

Abstract Martensitic transformation of Fe-30% Ni with a strong cube texture was studied. According to the Nishiyama-Wassermann relationship, the corresponding relation between the 12 orientation variants and the 24 habit-plane variants was determined. Plastic deformation in different directions prior to transformation leads to selection rules for the orientation as well as for the habit-plane variants. The total variant selection is a combination of both selection rules.
