Abstract

Within the scope of the joint research project at a model discharge thermo graphic investigations were carried out. The aim was to determent the influence of failures and bumpiness of the electrodes on their thermal charge. In our investigations no appreciable effect was observed. In a field trail a reactor with a flow rate of 350 m"3/h was operated to remove the malodour in the vicinity of a sewage pumping station. From the results modifications of the power supply and the discharge module were deduced. A spectroscopic method to determent the electron temperature was proposed and tested at the model discharge of the FH Merseburg. A hydrodynamic model, which uses the system of the Maxwellian equations neglecting the magnetic values, was implemented. That permits to calculate the densities of the charged particles in a self-consistent manner. The calculated current pulses are in a good qualitative agreement with the measured ones. For the ignition and the burning mechanism of the barrier discharge at atmospheric pressure new imaginations were developed.
