Abstract

COMMISSION OF THE EUROPEAN COMMUNITIES Brussels, 25.07.1997 COM(97)414 final 97/0223 (CNS) Proposal for a COUNCIL REGULATION (EC) amending Regulation (EC) No 2201/96 on the common organisation of the markets in processed fruit and vegetable products (presented by the Commission) EXPLANATORY MEMORANDUM At the Agriculture Council on 23-25 June 1997, the Commission was asked to present as quickly as possible an amendment to Regulation (EC) No 2201/96 as part of the price package agreement for the 1997/98 marketing year. The amendment reduces the French quota for tinned whole peeled tomatoes by 15 000 tonnes and increases the quota for other products by the same amount so as to take account of the needs of the French processing industry. To this end, the French quota in Annex III is amended for these two product groups, as are the total quantities for these groups in Article 6(2).
