Publisher Summary This chapter discusses the structure of distributions theory. Distribution theory is built primarily to extend a number of basic operations of analysis such as differentiation, to functions for which these operations were not well defined in the classical framework. The final product of such an extended operation, when applied to a function for which it was not defined before will, in general, not be a function.
